Children and Youth Resilient Initiative for Localized Development (CYRILD) is a non-profit community-based organisation registered in 2025, dedicated to empowering marginalised communities in Karamoja. It builds resilient communities, reducing vulnerabilities and alleviating suffering through an integrated development approach that emphasises inclusivity, environmental sustainability and natural resource conservation. It has a particular focus on using traditional theatre as a powerful tool to engage children, youth, women and elders.
In urban settlements and rural communities in Karamoja, CYRILD creates increased understanding of child labour as a human rights crisis through mass communications: radio talk shows and youth-led “theatre for social development”, focused on child protection in urban slums and rural communities.
Freedom Fund previously supported CYRILD under the name Rural Resilient Community Empowerment for Sustainable Development.
