Dr. Dan Elkes brings deep expertise at the intersection of science, strategy and advocacy. At Altos Labs, he leads the Institute of Technology and the Portfolio, Operations, and Projects group. Prior to that, he directed portfolio strategy at Genentech and worked at Medarex, where he was part of the development of the recent wave of groundbreaking immunotherapies for cancer.
Dan is also a long-standing leader in anti-slavery work, having founded the Freedom from Slavery Forum, chaired the board of Free the Slaves, and serves on the board of Transparentum.
Dan holds a PhD in Genetics from Harvard University and an AB from Princeton, where he studied molecular biology, public policy, and East Asian Studies.
