Havovi Wadia joined the Freedom Fund in October 2021 with a strong background in working with communities in under-served contexts, and a deep understanding of the circumstances of exploitation at the intersections of gender, language, class and caste. She has a passion for supporting organisation building, programmatic transformation and scale in organisations that are grounded in and accountable to their communities.
Previously, she served as CEO of Vipla Foundation, a Mumbai-based organisation she continues to support. While there, she worked closely with the board and stakeholders to rebrand the organisation to enhance its recognition in the competitive Indian organisational landscape. She grounded this work in a programmatic consolidation and scaling plan she developed collaboratively with her senior team.
With a career in leadership roles since 2010, she has led programs and their measurement, and has been actively engaged in fundraising efforts, speaking at events and with donors both in India and internationally. As Director of Impact at Magic Bus, she led, among other things, the fundraising application and partnership process for the organisation’s then largest successful grant for organisational development (USD 3.5 million).
She consistently uses her platform to uplift frontline organisations and promote a resilient civil society.
