Mohammad Jamal Hossain joined the Freedom Fund as a Finance Manager, Bangladesh in December 2023. Previously, he held the position of Head of Accounts and Finance Operations at Stichting Max Foundation-Bangladesh, an international NGO dedicated to ensuring a healthy start for every child in the most effective and sustainable way, with a focus on reducing child mortality where easily preventable diseases are no longer a cause.
During his 10 year tenure at Max Foundation-Bangladesh, Jamal played a pivotal role in developing the financial management strategy for the Bangladesh Country Office Program. His responsibilities included long-term financial planning, accounts management, audit management, country regulatory and donors’ compliance management, budgeting, designing the Payment by Result (PbR) financial structure for projects implemented by participating NGOs, grants management, capacity building of finance staff, and overseeing financial monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, he was actively involved in standard agreement preparation with participating NGOs.
Prior to his role at Max Foundation-Bangladesh, Jamal gained valuable experience working with South Asia Partnership (SAP-Bangladesh), Plan International (Plan-Bangladesh), and the national NGO Khan Foundation.
Jamal holds a Master of Commerce in accounting, an MBA in finance, CA (cc), ITP-2017, and has completed the Project Management Foundation Course from PMP.
