The Freedom Fund has launched a new online resource for donors who believe in the power of supporting frontline organisations.
Funding Frontline Impact (www.fundingfrontlineimpact.org), a new website from the Freedom Fund, shares stories, tools and resources to help donors in their frontline grantmaking, no matter the cause or geography. It brings together knowledge and practice gathered from the Freedom Fund’s work, which aims to bridge the gap between philanthropic investment and grassroots anti-trafficking organisations.
The resource promotes a set of key principles for frontline funders to follow, complemented by tactical advice and case studies about various steps in the grantmaking process. Donors can download practical tools and are encouraged to reflect on assumptions, shift funding approaches and promote better resourcing for frontline groups.
Nick Grono, CEO of The Freedom Fund said: “Support for frontline organisations has always been at the heart of the Freedom Fund’s mission. Since 2014, we have partnered with over 170 of these groups to address modern slavery, and during that time have learned a lot. Like many of our peers, we are on a journey to become a better funder, ally and supporter to frontline leaders and organisations.”
“We continually reflect on what is working, what isn’t, and what we’ve learned along the way. We feel a growing responsibility to share what we do and why we do it, in hopes of helping others to become more effective and ethical funders. We hope this site will equip donors with practical guidance and enable them to fully embrace the enormous potential of frontline groups.”

The Freedom Fund is a global fund with the sole aim of helping end modern slavery. We are a catalyst in the global effort to end modern slavery, working in the countries and sectors where it is most prevalent. We invest in and partner with organisations and communities on the frontlines of ending exploitation. By partnering with those at risk of modern slavery as well as visionary investors, governments and anti-slavery organisations, we bring together the knowledge, the capital and the will needed to dismantle the systems that allow slavery to exist and thrive. Through our investments and support, we aim to shift power, so that frontline organisations and communities can shape and drive the change required to bring modern slavery to an end.
