KASMA is a non-profit and non-partisan non-governmental organization, officially registered in December  2021. KASMA, which means ‘foundation’ in the local language, is Ethiopia’s pioneering organization led by survivors and returnees. Its mission is to dismantle barriers and eliminate the stigma associated with returnees, while empowering women to take the lead in the fight against modern slavery. KASMA strives to mobilize resources, advocate for systemic change, and empower women to drive the movement to end modern slavery.

KASMA established with a goal of KASMA is to contribute to a human trafficking-free Ethiopia. To achieve this, KASMA is committed to executing its mission through strategic advocacy for stronger anti-trafficking policies and laws, offering comprehensive services and support to trafficking survivors, and developing both short- and long-term strategies to combat human trafficking in Ethiopia. The founding members have devoted their time and efforts to establishing platforms that raise awareness among potential migrants, ensuring the success of their migration journeys, and providing support to those who have fallen victim to exploitation, abuse, and trafficking abroad.
