Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia (SBMI) – Indonesian Migrant Workers’ Union – was founded in February 2003 and recognized as a labour union in 2006. SBMI defends cases of migrant workers.
SBMI works for gender-just dignity and welfare for Indonesian migrant workers and their families by:
1. Conducting critical education for Indonesian migrant workers
2. Improving and strengthen Indonesian migrant workers’ bargaining position
3. Fighting for the rights of Indonesian migrant workers
4. Building a productive alternative economy for Indonesian migrant workers
5. Organising for Indonesian migrant workers
6. Fight for policies that support Indonesian migrant workers
