Chika Valerie Nwabeke

Program Advisor, Nigeria

Chika Valerie Nwabeke brings her expertise to the Freedom Fund as the Program Advisor for the Child Domestic Worker Pilot Program in Nigeria, joining in November 2023. With over a decade of experience as a humanitarian and development specialist, Chika has dedicated herself to protecting vulnerable populations, particularly in child protection, refugee and migrant protection, and community development in West and Central Africa.

Chika has worked with international organizations such as Terre des hommes and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as a protection expert she is a fervent advocate for human rights. Her work encompasses a wide range of critical areas, including providing comprehensive support to survivors of Child Labour and exploitation, combating Human Trafficking, and meticulously documenting violations of international humanitarian and human rights law in conflict zones.

In previous roles, Chika has been pivotal in ensuring the dignified treatment of detainees and championing the rights of vulnerable populations affected by armed conflicts. She has also played a significant role in addressing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) among victims of armed conflicts, amplifying the voices of those who often go unheard.
