London – The Freedom Fund is delighted to announce the appointment of Havovi Wadia as our new Director of Programs.
Havovi has over two decades of experience working with vulnerable children, to ensure education, build life skills, particularly for girls, and improve protection systems.
“All at Freedom Fund are delighted and excited to be working alongside Havovi”, said Dan Vexler, Managing Director, Programs.
“As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, Havovi will contribute to the Freedom Fund’s strategic direction; will oversee our programs to tackle exploitation in global slavery hotspots; and will help us to continually improve our offering to our grassroots NGO partners.”
Havovi joins the Freedom Fund from her role as CEO of Vipla Foundation, an implementation organisation based out of Mumbai. At Vipla Foundation, she focused largely on organisation building.
Prior to this, she was Director of Impact at Magic Bus. There, she was a key part of fundraising efforts both in-country and internationally, led on implementation of the organisation’s then largest grant for organisational development, and served as the Child Safeguarding Officer of the organisation for the duration of her tenure.
Havovi said: “It is a privilege to be part of the Freedom Fund, impacting equity and justice for children, women and men in so many vulnerable zones across the world. I look forward to learning from our field partners and supporting the resilient and responsive work the incredible field teams do.”
Havovi has an MPhil in English Literature and a Certificate in Women’s Studies from the University of Pune in India. Her first role was in teaching – something that taught her that the most valuable skill in communication is to listen.
